What's Up This Week?

We are off and running with our hockey unit. We are working on fundamental skills as well as strategies during our hockey games.  The students are wearing our Chicago Wolves jerseys during P.E. and each student has received a free ticket voucher to attend a game of their choice. Hockey has always been a fun and energetic piece of our P.E. curriculum here at Greenbrier.  Also on Friday 1/27 we are having our Jump Rope for Heart kickoff assembly as we begin to raise money for heart research to save the lives of children with heart defects. Last year was an incredible success and we are hoping to continue that trend in order to do our part to help others in need.  Most donations can be collected online by signing up and sending emails..... CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP!!!

Heart Obstacle Course!!

This week we started our Heart Obstacle Course unit. Students traverse through the course as they learn about the pathway of blood through the heart, to the lungs and back, and to the body.  We also work on monitoring our heart rate while we exercise to make sure that we are reaching and maintaining our target heart rate. This is great practice in preparation for our Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser that starts January 27th!!
